Looking For Alaska By John Green - Review

Looking For Alaska marks the debut of John Green as an author. It is about friendship, love and most importantly teenage life. The book caters to young adults in fiction genre and it is very well written.

It revolves around Miles Halter, who has a nonchalant life back in Florida. He didn't have friends in Florida. He very much loves his parents and wouldn't let them down. His decision of going to boarding, Culver Creek in Alabama is supported by his parents. For Miles he is looking for "Great Perhaps".

"Everything that comes together falls apart"

His life changes when he goes to Culver Creek. He makes friends. Best friends. And how Alaska Young plays an important role in his life. The most beautiful girl in Culver Creek.
And the most screwed up person in Culver Creek. She is moody, friendly, and does all the vices you could imagine. Alaska holds a special place in Miles heart.
Along with her, Miles is friends with Chip Martin who likes to be called The Colonel and is his roommate. He is also a good friend of Takumi Hikohito. Miles never imagined he would have a girlfriend but he had a short time fling with Lara Butowsky.

The book is split into two parts, "Before" and "After".
Events which take place in both the parts drastically affect Miles and changes him as a person.

With this young adult novel John Green delves into the mind of a teenager and very well portrays the teenage life.
Overall this is an enigmatic story filled with laughter and giggles throughout the book along with a twist in tale. It is an easy read and won't take long to finish it.

The storyline wouldn't attract all readers but it is definitely a worthy read considering it being a debut. I would recommend it to be read. It was a nice reading experience. Nice work John Green.
Hope you liked it!

The Maze Runner By James Dashner - Review

The Maze Runner is a SciFi suspense  book which is about a place called Glade in which many boys are stuck. The Glade is surrounded by a Maze which has not been solved yet. Eager to get out of this weird place, the boys try to find a way out of the Maze. Nobody remembers anything except their names when they enter the Maze. Their memories are vanished.

One day a boy named Thomas comes through the Box. Every month a boy comes through the Box but things change when a girl comes just a day after Thomas.
She had a paper in her hand which read "Everything is going to change".

The Maze Runner is a gripping story and it is hard to keep down the book( unless you are lazy). Basically those boys were a part of a certain survival experiment.
The Maze had horrible creatures called 'Grievers' which were half animal and half made of machine. They have needles on outer surface of themselves which killed many Runners. Many go through the 'Changing' after being stung by the grievers.
The Runners were assigned to find out a way through the Maze.

Minho was an experienced Runner who was agile, witty and straightforward. He became friends with Thomas, who later became a Keeper although he wanted to be a Runner. Minho was the leader of Runners who mapped their daily journey to the Maze. They created Maps which would be used to crack some sort of code and they would be out of the Maze.

Other boys were also assigned some work such as Cooks, Farmers,Cleaners etc.
Alby and Newt were the longest survivors, living in the Maze for two long years. Alby went though the 'Changing' and bits and pieces of memories came back to him.

Then comes Thomas who feels that he has been to the Maze before and can find a way out through the Maze.
He and the girl Teresa have a weird connection between them. They feel they are friends and possibly helped the Creators to make this awful place.

Many series of incidents take place after the arrival of Teresa and Thomas.
The Maze walls don't close anymore, one boy is killed every night, the supplies don't come, the skies turn to grey, no sign of sunshine at all.
What happens to those who are in the Maze?
Do they survive to see the real world or their world ends in the Maze?
Read the book to find out the end, for it will surely give you goosebumps.

The Maze Runner is a tale of survival, trust, friendship which is filled with twists and turns. This book gave me adrenaline rush. At first I thought of it as a boring book but as I turned pages I was engrossed into the book.
This book is for those who are adventurous and enjoy thrills.
Hope you liked this review.
